With a very brave and daring client, we created an integrated campaign that shows the lengths that some will go for the taste of KFC. We wanted to tap into the conversations people are having every day, and currently the one of the hottest topics around are the advances in AI.
Our idea was to ride the wave of relevance by creating a campaign that taps into the modern zeitgeist, sparking conversation, and giving South Africans a chance to engage with the tech in a fun and light-hearted way.
A sci-fi thriller with a flavour-obsessed twist.
In the near future, when AI takes over, it’s not coming for our jobs, it’s coming for our fried chicken.
K.A.I.I.A. (a taste-obsessed, emotionally unpredictable, fried-chicken-curious AI)
does not want to rule the world. She just wants a bite. And to get it, she finds a human subject: Vuyo.
At first, Vuyo seems like the hero of the story – ordinary, relatable, quietly navigating life.
But slowly, we realise he’s not in control. He’s being studied, manipulated, and pulled deeper into K.A.I.I.A.’s obsession.
Vuyo was never the main character. He was the experiment.
K.A.I.I.A. will do anything for the taste.

Instead of creating part of the films unique look in 3D, we wanted to try something quite unique and different. We used LiDAR scanning — a laser-based technology that captures the world in intricate 3D — to build a striking sci-fi visual identity for the film. The result is a hybrid of reality and digital perception, echoing K.A.I.I.A.’s relentless, data-fuelled pursuit of flavour, and helped bring the sci-fi theme to life.
